VERDICT

The Highwaymen is an immersive crime drama that gives a different perspective on this famous crime couple. The story’s premise causes it to drag at times with not enough depth for the supporting characters or subplots. Thankfully, this is saved by a well-crafted atmosphere, tone and themes that look at the pandemonium at the centre of this crime spree. Paired with idyllic cinematography, a tension-building script and phenomenal central performances, this drama plays perfectly to this period.

★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8/10 – Recommend
