With so many films coming out in theatres and streaming, it’s hard to get to everything when it’s released. So here’s our rapid-fire review of Always Be My Maybe.

DIRECTED BY: Nahnatchka Khan
WRITTEN BY: Michael Golamco, Randall Park and Ali Wong
STARRING: Randall Park, Ali Wong and Keanu Reeves

SYNOPSIS: A pair of childhood friends end up falling for each other when they grow up. (IMDB)

Always Be My Maybe is a smart, entertaining romantic comedy filled with love, laughter and loss. The story finds itself predictable and playing it too safe with awkward dialogue and the occasional dead joke. Thankfully, the chemistry of the leads, performances of the ensemble, relatable themes and overall enjoyable atmosphere make watching this film more than just a maybe. It uses an Asian ensemble to tell a universal story that feels like a modernized version of When Harry Met Sally.

★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8/10 – Recommend
