Synopsis:A crew aboard an exploratory vessel in Earth’s interstellar fleet, 400 years in the future.

This season of The Orville was a step in the right direction for this sci-fi comedy series. While the comedic tone of Macfarlane’s humour is diminished, it is replaced with strong relevant themes and commentary that tackle both the futuristic and modern societies it parallels. This is all aided by a charismatic ensemble, stellar special effects and classic Trek tropes that proves this series has embodied the essence of Star Trek while being its own memorable original series. From its subtle changes to its scientific themes, season two of The Orville may not be the same product as its predecessor, but becomes a stronger, more fully realized version of what its potential has shown.

Score: 9/10
