Hawaii Five-0 05×18 ‘Pono Kaulike’: “You’re welcome.”

Last week’s “Kuka’awale” was one of the funniest episodes of Hawaii Five-0 and “Pono Kaulike” does the exact opposite giving us the most tension-filled episode of this season, and potentially one of the best of the entire series. The team faces a barrage of problems when their past actions creep up on them. Danny and Chin are arrested for their actions in the death of Marco Reyes prompting the remainder of the team, with the help of Joe White, to race against the clock to save both team members from their biggest fears: being a cop in prison. No case of the week, but two arrests on the Five-0 team. There’s trouble in paradise in “Pono Kaulike.”

Scandal 04×14 ‘The Lawn Chair’: All lives matter

I know I said that “No More Blood” was the best hour of Scandal this season, but this episode surpasses that by leaps and bounds. As much as I want to stay consistent with my regular format of dishing out all the juicy details of each Scandal episode, I feel like that would not do justice to what this episode said. The synopsis reads ‘a tragedy in D.C. gains national attention and the White House must deal with their problematic VP.’ For all intents and purposes I do not really care about the VP situation at the moment as Shonda Rhimes does what she does best, and that is tackle issues head-on without a care of who she might upset. That makes for great TV. Let’s get to it, onto “The Lawn Chair.”

Person of Interest 04×16 ‘Blunt’: Recruitment

After focusing on Samaritan for a while, Person of Interest is back to the grittier, darker side of New York in the battle of the mafias. However, this time the story follows only one side of the rivalry. Reese and Finch attempt to protect this week’s number after she steals money from one of Dominic’s operations. These back to basic episodes depend on the intrigue of the weekly POI numbers, and characters like this week’s leave us wondering if we may see them return to help Team Machine in their final showdown with Samaritan. Let’s jump into “Blunt.”

Hawaii Five-0 05×17 ‘Kuka awale’: I support gay marriage

This has got to be one of the funniest episodes of Hawaii Five-0 to date. I guess it is what you can expect when an actor from the show directs an episode. For his directorial debut Daniel Dae Kim did a phenomenal job (and he had a lot of help from some guest star power), but he like any of the actors would be surrounded by the fandom of the show. He knows what people watch for, and one of those things is the McDanno banter. So what does he do? Makes a full episode surrounding it. What a perfect way to fill our needs after weeks of next to nothing. When Steve and Danny are on their stakeout it feels like a sitcom. So much so that it needs to happen. Do it CBS. We are waiting. Oh yeah Five-0 goes after some jewel thieves in “Kuka’awale.”Read the rest at gottawatchit.com…

Scandal 04×13 ‘No More Blood’: A most unexpected saviour

That was the best hour of Scandal we have had this season, maybe even since season two. Am I a little biased based on who showed up? Most definitely. That does not detract from the fact that this episode was finally something less formulaic than the entirety of the Olivia Pope kidnapping storyline. Finally, we do not see an overabundant use of close ups on items Olivia may use to escape, or all the characters worrying about the clock winding down. Olivia is back up for auction, and while the gladiators try to win her the White House fears she may fall into the wrong hands and begin to look at other options. Lots of drama and sudden twists that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Let’s get to it, onto “No More Blood.” Read the rest at gottawatchit.com…

Hawaii Five-0 05×16 ‘Nanahu’: Don’t look back whatever you do

What is with Hawaii Five-0 and all of its guest stars this season? They are really going all out, not that I am complaining. Apologies for both the late review and the lack of Five-0 recapping last week, life got a bit hectic. Don’t fret because this weekend will be filled with back-to-back Five-0 goodness! This week Five-0 works with an ATF agent to locate a serial arsonist on the island as Danny and Amber take in a romantic get away that is interrupted by someone from her past. Meanwhile Steve and Grover prepare for a charity golf tournament. Surprisingly all of the stories this week were interesting while the right amount of action and comedy. Five guest stars this week, did you recognize them all? Five-0 is on the case in “Nanahu.”Read the rest at gottawatchit.com…
