SYNOPSIS: Emmett Brickowski (Chris Pratt), an ordinary construction worker, is deemed special and joins a group of Master Builders on a quest to stop Lord Business (Will Ferrell) from gluing the Lego Universe.

Bits I Loved?

  • The animation was impeccable. Shows that we are entering a new era of animation similar to that of the change that Toy Story caused with its release. Able to create lifelike, plastic figurines in what appears to be stop-motion animation in a digital world.
  • The concept goes above and beyond what I expected showing the real creativity LEGO brings to the mind.
  • Particularly enjoy how they mix LEGO in with our world and showing that the story is entirely created from this young boy who wants to play with his dad’s LEGO.
  • Fantastic script, great jokes throughout for all generations. Wickedly smart yet sassy.
  • Amazing, star-studded cast. Liam Neeson is delightfully funny playing both sides to the good cop/bad cop.
  • The use of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as bit humour throughout the film referencing their other Lord/Miller collab of the Jump Street movies is hilarious.
  • Addictive soundtrack, gets you humming the main theme ‘Everything is Awesome’ hours after the film has ended.

Bits I Hated?

  • Not a real problem, just difficult to fully enjoy every joke the first time with how fast they are thrown at you. Need at least one more viewing to appreciate it.
